MS North Limited required an office server that would allow Macintosh
and Windows computers to share the same files and act a centralised
backup point. In addition, a firewall was needed to screen all users
from the Internet.
As the Macintosh computers are essential to MS North's main business,
The Penguin Factory deployed a Linux based solution simultaneously running
both Appletalk and Windows file sharing software. This allowed them,
for the first time, to be able to easily exchange documents between
the heterogeneous systems.
Since the initial installation, the main server has been supplemented
with addition group faxing, company email facilites and group calendaring.
